Passport to Jamaica ...

If you have a case of winter doldrums, might I suggest a little getaway to my favorite spot in Montego Bay, Jamaica? "It's all good, mon" is a phrase you'll often hear in Jamaica, and it certainly is an apt description for Montego Bay. Because it is all good!

Nowhere is the water more crystal clear, the tree canapy more verdant green, the plantation-style accommodations more comfortable or the classic island cuisine more appealing than at a little hidden gem we found several years ago called Coyaba Beach Resort & Club in Montego Bay. It is an intimate, all-suite, 50-room resort with a clubby, old-world feel.

This is my favorite Caribbean retreat, just a hop off the US mainland, and made-to-order for a romantic, restful vacation. Coyaba does not cater to the wild, party crowd. So, come prepared for tranquility and pampering, not raucous beach parties.

With its private, white sand beaches, three restaurants and bars, fully-equipped watersport offerings, tennis court, gym and massage services, Coyaba is a perfect retreat for rest and relaxation.

The Robertson family owns and operates the resort and ensures that every guest is treated with 'white glove' care. They take a personal interest in the satisfaction of their guests and work closely with those who are planning special events at the resort. Trust me, they are experts at weddings, too, with the perfect ceremony site overlooking the beach and sea.

Their Coyaba staff made planning and management of my daughter's wedding a breeze, with shuttle service excursions for our wedding guests to golf, river rafting and shopping at the colorful market in town.

So, you may want to shake off the winter chill with a little trek to Montego Bay. I know I'm up for another trip back.
