New finds in Fred ...

I love shopping in Fredericksburg, Texas. Strolling Main Street and ducking into one fabulous shop after the other is a great way to spend the day with girlfriends. I'm particularly fond of the quirky vintage finds that abound in this Hill Country village.

One of my shopping buddies pointed out this charming tablesetting at Skye & Henry's. The cast iron bird perched atop the dinner plate caught my eye.

Homestead is a shop with more personality that most antique stores. In the display at left, various sizes of plastic jugs have been covered with cotton fabric, apparently attached with a heavy dose of glue. With a bit of paint splatter and good old dirt rubbed in, these containers take on a mummified character. They would make great storage containers for bits and pieces, brushes, or whatnots that need a home.

Above right, canvas and paper totes are hung on the wall to keep unruly messes in check. The numbering system would work great to keep kids organized.

Fun stuff ... great ideas, too.
